What "done right" looks like.

Most St. Louis roofers will do a tear-off and a re-shingle. The differences show up in the line items they skip — and in the conversations they don't want to have with you about why those line items matter.

Here is what a complete Reliant roof replacement includes, and why each piece is on the scope:

• Full tear-off down to the deck. No layovers. We need to see what's actually under the old shingles — rotted decking, missed flashing, undersized vents — so it gets corrected once instead of trapped under new shingles.
• Decking inspection and replacement where the deck is soft, delaminated, or punky.
• Ice & water shield in code-required locations. Eaves, valleys, around penetrations. The carrier and the code already say this is required; we install it whether or not the original scope listed it.
• Synthetic underlayment across the field. No felt. Tear-resistant, slip-rated, and won't wrinkle under the new shingles.
• Starter strip at every eave and rake. The factory-edge starter is what wins the wind-uplift rating. Field-cut starter from a 3-tab voids the warranty on most architectural shingles.
• Drip edge at every eave and rake, color-matched, installed under the underlayment at eaves and over at rakes per shingle-manufacturer spec.
• Step flashing at every roof-to-siding location.
• Ridge ventilation sized to the attic. Code-driven balance with intake (soffit vents). If the existing ventilation is wrong for the house, we'll tell you — additional ventilation work may carry extra charges depending on scope.
• Owens Corning architectural shingles in the color of your choice. Other lines available; OC is the default because we install to their spec.
• Magnetic nail sweep across yard, driveway, and street before we leave the site.

That sits on top of whatever manufacturer warranty applies to the shingle line you chose (Owens Corning shingle warranties typically run 25 to 50 years depending on product).
